Thursday 14th October 2021 was a big date to celebrate for the Keynsham & Saltford Dementia Action Alliance. It was almost 19 months to the day since our last Music for the Mind session. We had hoped to start up in July but the timing didn’t seem right with an increase in COVID infections around that time, with a delayed go ahead agreed for the 14th October.
The committee put a lot of thought into the set up in St Dunstan’s Church Hall to reduce the risk of Covid infections to a minimum. Attendees had let us know they were coming, so that we approximate attendance numbers were known. It was wonderful to welcome back some of our regulars, Len and Diana, Ros and Barbara, Julia and Grace and Kate and Merv. We also had pairs who were there for the first time, Geraldine and Joan, Margaret and Leslie and Bryan and Rita. Julie and Kelly, who run the activity centre in Kingfisher Lodge in Saltford, brought along 3 new ladies to the session, Meta, Mary and Evelyn. Thanks go to Dial-a-Ride for picking them up from Saltford and taking them home.
The singing was again superbly led by Lindy with June providing the music. Judith and Di served the hot drinks plus cakes and biscuits and Merrial, Sue, Lyndon and Mike helped out. The atmosphere in the room was very relaxed and everybody was happy to be out in the fresh air and singing their hearts out. We look forward to the next session on Thursday 28th October from 10.30 until 12.15.
The photos show some of our friends, old and new, having a good time.
