Christmas Music for the mind session

At our Music for the Mind session on Thursday December 13th at St Dunstan’s Church Hall we had a number of visitors. At her personal request, we received a second visit from Cllr Karen Walker (Chair of Bath & North East Somerset Council) and to add to the occasion we had a visit from a class of children from St John’s Church of England School who sang a selection of carols for our clients and the volunteers.

All of the children were given squash and ginger bread men. All of our clients were also given a small gift. As the children and teachers left they asked if it could become a regular annual visit and we were happy to accept that offer.

A couple of pictures from the event are shown below.

Saltford Morning WI Craft Sale fundraise

Over the last few weeks the local Women’s Institute were working hard to raise money through their creations. This culminated in the main craft sale held 1 December. Their excellent work facilitated by the group’s President, Merrial Knight, have raised approximately £650 to help the local Dementia Action Alliance. A fantastic effort by all but particular thanks also go to Louise Martin for her significant efforts.

Music for the Mind and Craft Sales

An excellent session of Music for the Mind was held on the 8th November.

It was a great attendance of 16 people with dementia, with a very positive atmosphere. If you know of someone who would benefit from attending please invite them along, or get in contact.

A craft sale was also held, which will also be available over the next two meetings. This was to help raise funds for Keynsham Dementia Action Alliance.

The two ladies pictured attend our twice monthly music for the mind sessions and kindly agreed for the picture showing their handiwork. The two ladies are residents at Sunnymede care home in Keynsham and are shown with their carer Jodie in the middle.

The main craft sale is being held at Saltford hall on Saturday December 1st from 10am.

All of the craft items are being made by Saltford morning WI who have chosen Keynsham Dementia Action Alliance to be their charity of the year. Please do attend and find something to take home with you, whilst supporting a great cause.
